"For the mind does not require filling like a bottle, but rather, like wood, it only requires kindling to create in it an impulse to think independently and an ardent desire for the truth." (Plutarch. Or Socrates...)

The University of Tennessee: The Global Economy (2023 Summer)

- I think that this class was super-fast-paced and sometimes it was really difficult to follow. I think that there was a lot of material and it was hard to keep up with everything all at once. But I think he made the class fun and informative and tried to keep the conversations involved and light.

- (The instructor) Did a good job overall and was very passionate about this class which translated very well into making the course quite enjoyable.

2021-2022 –Intermediate Macroeconomics

The University of Tennessee: Intermediate Macroeconomics (Summer 2022)

- The instructor made sure there was a lot of added value to taking this course. He always responded to emails and was open to suggestions to improving the course as we continued. Diego is very transparent as to how his class is run/conducted and is willing to explain things again, no matter how simple the concept might be for a junior because the concepts that are derived from the simple concepts are very complex. It is very exciting knowing all the connections to what is happening around us with the Federal Reserve and policy makers. I believe this class has set me up for success in economics.

- I believe that the instructor did a very good job in explaining all the concepts and trying to break down each chapter through graphs and problems on the board, so I don't have anything to add.

- He is great! At first, I gave up on this course, it is so much material, and I did not understand everything at first. I started to form the opinion that it was my professor's fault, placing blame on him for not teaching the material well. But that was NOT true. Diego was given the huge task of teaching us INSANE material and after falling into a routine with the class was able to teach so well. He used the whiteboard mostly and that was the most beneficial. Using the slides ended up not helping at all and the material really needed to be worked out. He was also SO helpful and kind during office hours, office hours truly are the only reason I improved in this course and he was so willing to help with everything I did not understand. He did fantastic!

- Professor Guerrero made me fall in love with economics. Never before had I had a professor who was actually passionate about the subject and showed a love for the field through their teaching. Diego's sense of humor and happy demeanor always made his class the highlight of my schedule, and he made me glad to be an economics major. It's so relieving to have such a genuine, kind person as professor who has an excitement for teaching that very few others have. It was a joy to have him as my professor, and I hope to have him again in a future class!
